Fun, non-syllabus tap dance classes with a focus on technique, musicality, choreography and improvisation.
Our classes celebrate tap as a living, rhythmic art form — joyful, social and deeply connected to music.
A welcoming introduction to tap for complete beginners and anyone looking to refresh their foundations.
Our upbeat classes explore basic technique, rhythm and musicality in a relaxed and encouraging environment. You’ll build a vocabulary of tap steps, put them together into short sequences and enjoy making music with your feet. There’s space to ask questions, try things out and learn at your own pace.
No tap shoes? No problem. You can start in hard-soled shoes that fit securely to your feet—please avoid ballet pumps and trainers. We also have a tap shoe library, so get in touch if you’d like to borrow a pair. When you’re ready to buy your own, we’re happy to offer advice.
For dancers with around six months’ tap experience or those who have completed a beginner course and feel ready for the next step.
Build on your foundations in a friendly, encouraging class. We’ll refine technique and develop clarity, coordination and control, gradually introducing more complex steps and rhythms. Through short sequences and guided improvisation, you’ll strengthen your musicality, grow in confidence and begin to find your own voice as a tap dancer.
For tap dancers with solid foundations who are ready to explore more complex steps, rhythms and combinations.
Develop speed, stamina and rhythmic accuracy through longer phrases and routines, with a continued focus on clear technique, musicality and coordination. We’ll also explore improvisation, giving you space to experiment, develop your personal style and grow in confidence as a tap dancer.
For experienced tap dancers looking to deepen their technical skill, musical understanding and individual expression.
Jazz music is at the heart of these classes. We explore jazz standards, song structures, phrasing and swing, developing rhythmic nuance alongside more complex combinations and traditional tap repertoire.
Improvisation is woven throughout, encouraging you to listen closely, respond to musical ideas and develop your own voice. Expect opportunities to challenge your technique, explore musical choices and connect with others through rhythm.
Want more time to develop? We recommend taking two levels each week (90 minutes in total): one to consolidate your foundations and refine technique and another to stretch your skills and musicality.
We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor!
