Fun, non-syllabus tap dance classes with a focus on rhythm, musicality, choreography and technique.
Suitable for complete beginners and those who wish to refresh their foundations in tap. Upbeat, non-syllabus tap classes, exploring musicality and building vocabulary to make short tap dance sequences.
(For complete beginners it is not essential to begin with tap shoes. Please instead begin with hard soled shoes, which hold tightly to the foot – avoiding ballet-pumps and trainers. We are happy to recommend where to buy tap shoes.)
Non-syllabus tap classes suitable for tap-dancers who have all their basic steps in place and wish to progress from beginners. For Advanced Beginners rhythm & musicality are more firmly introduced.
Suitable for tap-dancers with more experience and who want to begin to develop complex tap steps and combinations. Each class a routine is developed and rehearsed, built up across the course, with opportunity to discover further rhythm and musically theoretical concepts through footwork.
Suitable for experienced tap-dancers who have established higher level skills in the rhythms and techniques of rhythm tap, via our Intermediate courses or in higher level classes elsewhere, and wish to progress further. At Advanced level there is more autonomy in class, with students working on and building some ideas themselves, and choosing how best to approach or absorb the class materials. Classes may include improvisation or choreographic tasks. There is less repetition within routine sequences, similar to creating ‘melody’ rather than ‘bassline’, plus opportunity to explore them further using performance techniques.
